Having a full head of lush, thick hair is associated with youthfulness and even sexiness. While the average person loses up to 100 hairs every day, in some people, these aren’t replaced with new growth. It can be alarming to discover that you’re losing your hair, even if your family history leads you to expect it at some point.

So-called male pattern baldness can affect women as well, though it’s often more dramatic in men. Because up to 40% of people may experience this, it’s important to know that you’re far from alone. However, having plenty of company doesn’t mean you should be or have to  complacent.   Hair loss does not need to be a life sentence!

One of the possible treatments for hair restoration is low level laser therapy.  In this blog, Dr. Martin Maag of Honest Hair Restoration explains this treatment option to help you determine if it might be something that can help to restore your hair.

What is laser cap therapy?

Chances are, you’ve already tried the over-the-counter treatments for hair loss like Rogaine®️ (minoxidil). Maybe you even had a prescription for Propecia (finasteride). You probably found them lacking, and now you’re looking into more serious treatments.

Laser cap therapy uses a low-level laser, sometimes called a cold laser. During the treatment, this low-level laser is pointed directly at your scalp. Some studies have found that it’s effective on its own in helping to stimulate your scalp to grow new hair.

The advantages of laser cap therapy are that it’s safe, effective, noninvasive, and completely painless. However, the disadvantages are that it’s time-consuming and expensive.

Finding the best approach

Laser cap therapy definitely has its place in hair restoration programs. But it’s often most effective when combined with other technologies to bring you the best possible results.

You’re likely willing to invest in restoring your hair, but timing is often a factor worth consideration. You want to see the fastest results possible, which is not only personally desirable but often necessary to fit around your busy career.

We may choose to combine laser cap therapy with other effective treatments, such as exosomal injections or custom-blended hair regrowth medications. We also offer platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, which use factors from your own blood to stimulate hair growth.

We can also use laser cap therapy in addition to our ProGrowth Combination F.U.E therapy which utilizes NeoGraft®️ technology.   FUE, which stands for follicular unit extraction, provides a superior result compared to the technique of cutting a large strip of hair from the back of your scalp.  ProGrowth Combination FUE,  results in a softer, more natural look, without leaving behind any unsightly scars.

Of course, you should always contact your doctor right away if you’re losing hair very suddenly, as this may be due to something other than hereditary hair loss. But hereditary hair loss can be reversed with hair restoration — and the sooner you begin the process, the better.

If you’re interested in learning more about laser cap therapy and some of the other treatments we have to offer, contact Dr. Maag at Honest Hair Restoration or book an appointment online.  Your consultation is always free, you just have to make the call.  And don’t forget, at HHR, we don’t cut hair, we grow it!
